Reported impaired driver resists arrest near North River

A 51-year-old man, who was reported as a suspected impaired driver, was located by Bay Roberts RCMP on November 23, 2021, and now faces charges of resisting arrest and impaired driving.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Bay Roberts RCMP received the report of a suspected impaired driver in Bay Roberts. Officer patrolled and located the described vehicle near North River. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver showed signs of alcohol impairment. He failed a roadside breath test and resisted arrest, requiring the assistance of additional officers. He was taken into custody without further incident and provided breath samples that were more than three and a half times the legal limit.

The man was released from custody and is set to attend court at a later date to answer to his charges. His licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
