Selkirk RCMP investigate fatal collision

On December 3, 2021, at approximately 6:30 pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 8, just south of Meadowdale Road, in the RM of St. Andrews.

A pickup truck going north on Highway 8 crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a SUV travelling south on Highway 8. A third vehicle, which was driving south, rear-ended the SUV.

The driver of the SUV, a 36-year-old female, along with an 11-year-old male passenger, both from the RM of West St. Paul, were taken to hospital.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 58-year-old male, along with a 57-year-old female passenger, both from Winnipeg, were taken to hospital.

The driver of the third vehicle, a 70-year-old male from Winnipeg, was not physically injured.

On December 4, 2021, the 36-year-old female succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

Icy roads are believed to be a factor in the collision.

Selkirk RCMP, along with a RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
