Suspended driver owing more than $18,000 in fines is compelled to court by Bay Roberts RCMP

A 35-year-old suspended driver owing more than $18,000.00 in fines now faces a court appearance following a traffic stop conducted by Bay Roberts RCMP on January 11, 2021.

At approximately 8:00 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the community of Brigus and conducted a traffic stop on a car that was being operated by a known suspended driver on Route 60. In addition to owing a large amount of fines, police found that the driver was operating the car without insurance. The car was seized and impounded and the man is now compelled to attend court at a later date to answer to charges under the Highway Traffic Act for driving while suspended and without insurance.
