Teslin RCMP respond to stranded canoeists

On July 15th, 2021 Teslin RCMP received a report on two canoeists who had activated the help button on their SPOT device. The couple were travelling from Caribou Lake to the Upper Liard bridge near Watson Lake via the Liard River. Given their location, a helicopter was necessary to ensure a timely response. Teslin RCMP, Watson Lake RCMP, RCMP SAR Coordinator collaborated with Yukon Wildland Fire Management who were working in the area and able to assist with a helicopter that transported a member of the Watson Lake RCMP to the area where the couple were believed to be. They were located and transported safely to Watson Lake. They had equipment problems that had left them stranded in a remote area and in need of assistance.
