The Pas RCMP make arrest after armed and barricaded incident

Seized firearm and ammunition

On November 20, 2021, at approximately 2:05 am, The Pas RCMP responded to report of an assault at a residence in the RM of Kelsey. RCMP were advised that the suspect was inside his residence, along with other adults and children, and was in possession of a firearm.

Immediately officers from The Pas RCMP detachment along with Manitoba First Nation Police Service, attended and contained the area. The victim, a 21-year-old female, was located safe outside the residence. She had minor injuries and was treated by emergency personnel.

Officers ensured the public in nearby residences were secure, and after several hours, an RCMP negotiator was able to make contact with the suspect and convince him to surrender. He exited the residence and was arrested without incident.

No one inside the residence was physically injured.

Officers seized a shotgun and ammunition from inside the residence.

Jeremy Cook, 44, has been charged with;

  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a Weapon when Possession if Unauthorized
  • Unsafe Storage
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order x 2
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2
  • Use a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
  • Careless Storage of Ammunition

He was remanded into custody.
