Thompson RCMP arrest male for aggravated assault

On December 28, 2021, at approximately 7:50 pm, Thompson RCMP responded to a report of an assault in progress at a residence on Princeton Drive, in Thompson. It was reported that a male was assaulting a female in the home.

Officers immediately attended, entered the residence and encountered the male suspect. The male was in possession of a knife and refused to comply with police commands. Officers deployed pepper spray and a conducted energy weapon, gained control of the male and placed him under arrest.

A 31-year-old female victim was taken to hospital.

A 29-year-old male from Cross Lake has been charged with Breaking and Entering, Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Uttering threats.

He was remanded into custody.

Thompson RCMP continue to investigate.
