Two people charged in connection with armed robbery

Two men have been charged following an armed robbery at a business in Moncton, N.B.

On December 28, 2021, at approximately 7 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a convenience store on Mill Road. An individual with a firearm demanded money from an employee and left with an undisclosed amount. The suspects left the scene in a vehicle before police arrived. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Through the investigation, police were able to identify the individuals responsible and arrested three men at a nearby home. One of the individuals was later released.

Edmond Joseph Babineau, 61 years-old from Moncton, and Terry Edmond Babineau, 41 years-old from Dieppe appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand on December 29. They were both charged with robbery. Terry Edmond Babineau was also charged with failure to comply with a probation order.

Both men were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on January 4, 2022, for a bail hearing.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and whether the individuals arrested are connected to other recent robberies in the area.
