Watchful residents report break and enter resulting in an arrest

Watchful residents helped keep their community safe by reporting a break and enter which led to the arrest of a 44-year-old man yesterday evening.

On November 22 at 6:41 p.m. police received a report of truck going into a driveway of a house under construction on Buttercup Grove in Upper Sackville. The truck drove into the garage door causing damage and then left. Thanks to the information provided, the truck was located by police on Millwood Dr. in Lower Sackville. During the traffic stop, the driver showed signs of impairment and then failed the roadside screening test. He was taken to Lower Sackville Detachment for further breath samples which he refused to provide.

The driver, from Hammonds Plains, was later released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on January 12, 2022 and is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance. Refusal to Comply with a Demand and Break and Enter.

The investigation is ongoing.
