20-year old man dies following single-vehicle crash

A 20-year old man from Clair, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle crash in Baker Brook.

On October 14, 2022, at approximately 5:15 a.m., members of the Clair and Saint-Léonard RCMP detachments, Baker Brook Fire Department, and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a car that had crashed on Route 120, in Baker Brook. When police arrived at the scene, they found that the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 20-year old man, had been ejected from the vehicle. The man was transported to hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The crash is believed to have occurred when the driver lost control of the car and left the roadway.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office are assisting with the ongoing investigation. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the man's exact cause of death. Traffic on Route 120 was reduced to one lane for a few hours but the road has since fully reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
