News release

A 25-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., has been charged following two armed robberies, committed the same night in the community.

On September 18, 2022, shortly after 7 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to two separate reports that individuals had been robbed by a man armed with a knife on Main Street, in Moncton. It was reported to police that a man had approached an individual who was in a parked car and demanded money while brandishing a knife. The man fled the scene with a credit card stolen from the individual. Minutes later, the man approached a second individual, who was on the sidewalk nearby, brandished a knife again and stole food.

Through the investigation, police were able to identify a person of interest, and on October 16, a 25-year-old man was arrested without incident near a business on Queen Street.

On October 17, Jordan Deyong appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand, and was charged with:

  • Two counts of robbery with an offensive weapon
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on October 24.

The investigation is ongoing.
