Update: 73-year-old woman dies following two-vehicle collision

Update: A 69-year-old woman from Caraquet, who was taken to hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries, has died as a result of her injuries.

A 73-year-old woman from Caraquet, N.B., has died following a two-vehicle collision in Pokemouche, N.B.

On December 3, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Tracadie RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Route 11 in Pokemouche.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the driver of the car travelling southbound crossed the centerline, colliding with the car travelling northbound. The passenger died at the scene as a result of their injuries. Both drivers and the passenger of the second car were transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the woman's exact cause of death.

Route 11 was closed for approximately five hours, but has since been re-opened.

The investigation is ongoing.
