79-year-old woman dies following two-vehicle collision

A 79-year-old woman from St. Thomas, Ontario, has died following a two-vehicle collision in Berry Mills, N.B.

On December 17, 2022, at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Caledonia Region RCMP detachment responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 128, between Highway 2 and Horsman Road, in Berry Mills. A passenger of the first vehicle, a 79-year-old woman from St. Thomas, Ontario, died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver was transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious, but non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was also transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

The collision is believed to have occurred when one of the vehicles, travelling westbound, crossed the centreline and collided head-on with the second vehicle that was travelling eastbound.

Members of the Moncton Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also attended the scene. An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the woman's exact cause of death.
