Bay Roberts RCMP responds to report of suspicious vehicle, arrests wanted man for drug-impaired driving

Wanted man, 20-year-old Brady Parsons, was arrested following the report of a suspicious vehicle that was parked at a business in Shearstown on May 29, 2022.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, police received the report of a vehicle that was parked at a business with the engine running. Two men were said to be sleeping inside. Officers attended the scene and found Parsons, who showed signs of drug impairment, seated in the driver seat, with the keys in the ignition and engine engaged. Drug paraphernalia and residue were observed within the vehicle. Parsons was arrested for drug-impaired driving and his outstanding arrest warrant, issued for failing to attend court in relation to two separate charges of prohibited driving.

He was transported to Carbonear General Hospital where blood samples were obtained and seized for further analysis. Officers await the results of the blood samples to determine if charges of drug-impaired driving are appropriate.

Parsons appeared before a judge on Monday and was released from custody to attend court at a later date. He is charged with the following offences:

  • Failing to comply with conditions of a release order (not to operate a motor vehicle) –Criminal Code of Canada
  • Operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license - Highway Traffic Act
  • Operating an unregistered vehicle – Highway Traffic Act
