Cartwright RCMP arrests impaired driver, lays additional charges of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer

A Cartwright woman is facing multiple charges after Cartwright RCMP responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver on a snowmobile on the evening of March 18, 2022. Police conducted patrols and immediately located the woman operating the snowmobile on the ice in Cartwright harbour.

The woman showed visible signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. She resisted arrest and fought with responding officers. She was brought back to the Cartwright Detachment where she provided two breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit.

She was charged with impaired driving, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

Her licence was suspended and snowmobile seized. She was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
