The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested three people and seized drugs, a loaded restricted weapon, and drug trafficking paraphernalia in connection with an investigation in Moncton, N.B.

On April 22, 2022, at approximately 5:30 a.m., members of the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment on Bonaccord Street, in Moncton, as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking. During the search, police seized what is believed to be crack cocaine, as well as an unsecured loaded revolver, a replica semi-automatic airsoft rifle, ammunition, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Three people were arrested at the scene without incident.

The same day, 32-year-old Edmond Babineau and a 41-year-old Hugh John Ryan, both from Moncton, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand and were charged with unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon. They have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to return to court on April 25 at 2 p.m. for a bail hearing. A 37-year-old woman, also from Moncton, was later released.

The investigation was conducted by the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit. Members of the New Brunswick RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services, and Codiac Regional RCMP assisted with the arrests and search. These efforts focus on disrupting and dismantling the trafficking of illegal drugs in our province, targeting those causing the most harm in our communities.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
