Cumberland House RCMP seeks public’s assistance locating wanted male

On July 25, 2022 at approximately 1:05 p.m., Cumberland House RCMP received a report of a male uttering threats at a residence on Cumberland House Cree Nation.

When officers responded, the residence was on fire. Local fire services extinguished the fire. The interior of the residence was heavily damaged and no injuries were reported.

While investigating this incident, officers received a report of a separate assault that occurred earlier this year.

As a result of investigation, Cumberland House RCMP have charged Lawrence McGillivary, 29, of Cumberland House Cree Nation with:

  • 1 count, arson, Section 434, Criminal Code
  • 1 count, utter threats, Section 264.1(1)(b), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, assault causing bodily harm – choking, strangling or suffocating, Section 267(c), Criminal Code

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Cumberland House RCMP are actively trying to locate him.

Lawrence McGillivary is described as approximately 5'10" tall and 175 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
