On October 16, 2022, at approximately 8:00 am, Dauphin RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle that had entered onto a property in Ochre River. The vehicle was then seen leaving the property a short time later. This vehicle was believed to have stopped by the property earlier that morning at around 5:00 am and may be responsible for others thefts nearby.

Officers conducted patrols on and near Highway 20 and within a short period of time, spotted the suspect vehicle heading westbound on Road 147N, located northwest of Dauphin Beach.

Officers attempted a traffic stop but the suspect vehicle failed to pull over. With the suspect's direction of travel known, another officer setup a spike belt ahead of the suspect vehicle and was successful in disabling it. The vehicle came to a stop on the road and the two suspects were arrested without incident.

A search of the vehicle and suspects led to the recovery of stolen property as well as a small quantity of drugs believed to be cocaine. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Arborg.

The two accused, 26-year-old Sabrina Bjornson and 25-year-old Joseph Contois, both from Riverton, were remanded into custody on numerous charges including Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
