Twenty-five-year-old Kyle Squires of Deer Lake was arrested yesterday by Deer Lake RCMP and faces multiple charges in relation to arson at a Deer Lake home.
Just after 7:00 a.m. yesterday, police received a report from Deer Lake Fire Department that they were on the scene of a residence where a man was seen pouring gasoline over areas of the home. Several areas of the home, which was occupied at the time, were damaged by fire, including windows, doorways and siding, with smoke damage in the interior of the residence.
Deer Lake RCMP responded, as well as Police Dog Services and an investigator from provincial Fire Services. Police Service Dog Thor and his handler tracked Squires to his residence, where he was arrested.
He appears in court today to face the following charges:
- Arson – Disregard for Human Life
- Arson – Damage to Property
- Uttering Threats against property
- Mischief Over $5000.00
