Fort Saskatchewan RCMP lay charges following armed robbery

On May 1, 2022, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP responded to a complaint of a robbery in progress at a business on Westpark Boulevard in Fort Saskatchewan.

Upon arrival, members observed an adult male holding down the suspect behind the business' counter. A second adult male on scene had suffered apparent facial laceration injuries. It was determined this male was assaulted with a baton style weapon and was working at the business at the time of the assault.

A search of the suspect's backpack revealed $200 in Canadian currency that had been taken from the business' cash register.

A 19-year-old individual of Fort Saskatchewan has been charged with the following:

  • Robbery with an offensive weapon
  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with a release order (x2)

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, the 19-year-old individual was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on May 5, 2022.

As this matter is now before the court, no further updates are anticipated.
