Following a lengthy investigation into a rash of commercial break and enters that occurred between 2018 and 2019, Gander RCMP has charged 37-year-old Ben Lush.
From the onset of the investigation, police suspected Lush as being responsible for the break and enters but lacked the evidence to proceed to charges. Officers worked diligently during the investigation and secured a warrant for a sample of Lush's DNA. Lab analysis was delayed due to COVID-19 impacts but once completed, Lush's DNA was confirmed as a match to samples located at the scenes of six break and enters that occurred between 2018 and 2019.
He is now charged with six counts of break and enter and is set to attend court on March 8, 2022.
RCMP NL continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law, and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
