The Grande Prairie RCMP has recovered a large quantity of items that are believed to be stolen following the execution of a search warrant in Grande Prairie.

On March 14, 2022, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a 911 hang up coming from a hotel room located near the Northridge subdivision. Grande Prairie RCMP attended and during the preliminary investigation, officers observed what was believed to be an unsecure firearm inside the room. A female and a male were subsequently arrested.

Grande Prairie RCMP executed a search warrant at the hotel room. During the search, officers located several items, some of which are believed to be stolen property. The items seized included:

  • Four firearms
  • Ammunition
  • Three airsoft guns
  • A large quantity of watches
  • A large quantity of cell phones
  • 3.28 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Body armour
  • A large quantity of construction tools

A 24-year-old individual of Horse Lake, Alta. and a 36-year-old individual of Grande Prairie have been charged with the following:

  • Possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized x 4
  • Careless use of firearm
  • Tampering with serial number of firearm
  • Possession of controlled substance: Fentanyl
  • Possession of property obtained by crime x 2

The 36-year-old individual also charged with the following:

  • Possession of prohibited weapon
  • Failing to comply with release order
  • Obstructing peace officer

Following a judicial hearing, the 24-year-old individual has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on April 27, 2022. The 36-year-old individual was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on April 27, 2022.
