Harbour Grace RCMP impounds vehicle and issues multiple tickets to novice driver on Veteran’s Memorial Highway

An unregistered, uninsured vehicle was seized and impounded, and a novice driver was ticketed by Harbour Grace RCMP on the Veteran's Memorial Highway, following a traffic stop conducted shortly before 3:00 a.m. on October 18, 2022.

Police conducted a traffic stop near the Harbour Grace exit on Route 75. The driver of the vehicle, a novice driver class 5 level 1, was operating the car without an appropriate accompanying driver, as was required. The vehicle had a number of mechanical defects and was deemed unsafe for operation on a roadway.

The driver was issued the following tickets under the Highway Traffic Act:

  • Operating an unregistered vehicle
  • Operating a vehicle without an insurance policy
  • Operating a vehicle without valid identification plates
  • Failing to notify the registrar of transfer of ownership
  • Driving without an appropriate accompanying driver
