Harbour Grace RCMP responds to residential disturbance, man arrested assaults police and attempts to disarm officer

Harbour Grace RCMP responded to a residential disturbance on November 28, 2022, that resulted in the arrest of 34-year-old Travis Oliver. Oliver assaulted police, uttered threats and attempted to disarm an officer.

Following his arrest for charges of assault and uttering threats, Oliver continued aggressive behaviour towards the police. While being lodged at the detachment, he assaulted two officers, uttered death threats towards one officer and attempted to remove one of the officer's service pistol from the officer's duty belt.

He attends court today and is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Assault
  • Uttering threats against person – two counts
  • Assaulting a police officer – two counts
  • Obstructing a police officer
  • Attempting to disarm a police officer

The investigation is continuing.
