A marked RCMP patrol vehicle is parked on the shoulder of a paved roadway. Tire marks from another vehicle are seen on the gravel shoulder, leading into a guardrail from a single-vehicle crash.

Harbour Grace RCMP responded to a single-vehicle crash in Bay de Verde yesterday morning that resulted in the arrest of a 48-year-old man for impaired driving.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., police received the report of a crash on Tavenors Road in Bay de Verde. A truck struck a guard rail, crossed the road and struck the guard rail on the opposite side of the road, where it became stuck. The driver, who was provided a ride from the scene, was located a short time later at a residence. He showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested. The man was transported to the detachment and provided breath samples that were three times the legal limit.

He was released from custody and is set to attend court at a later date. His vehicle was seized and impounded and his driver's license was suspended.
