Hopedale RCMP arrests impaired driver on snowmobile

A 34-year-old man was arrested by Hopedale RCMP early this morning for impaired driving while operating a snowmobile.

At approximately 1:40 a.m. today, police on patrol observed a snowmobile coming into the community from the sea ice. A traffic stop was conducted and the operator of the snowmobile showed signs of alcohol impairment. He was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were nearly twice the legal limit.

The man, who does not possess a driver's licence, was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court on May 31, 2022, to answer to charges of impaired driving.
