An ATV operator is facing multiple charges following his arrest by Harbour Grace RCMP on Sunday. Police were responding to a report received just after 3:00 a.m. of an ATV travelling back and forth London Road in Carbonear when a police officer witnessed the crash of the ATV.

The driver, a 34-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet but was uninjured. He showed signs of alcohol impairment and provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit. A case of beer also left the ATV when the crash occurred.

The 34-year-old man now faces two charges under the Criminal Code - impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation while impaired over 80mg%. He also has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act for operating a vehicle without insurance and operating an ATV without a helmet. He is expected to appear in court on June 13, 2022.
