Lewisporte RCMP responds to report of erratic driver, man arrested for impaired driving

A 58-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving on October 18, 2022, by Lewisporte RCMP following a report of an erratic driver.

Yesterday afternoon, police received the report of a driver operating a vehicle in a reckless manner and at high speeds along Route 340 near Lewisporte. A patrol was conducted and the described vehicle was located. The driver showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to the detachment, provided a breath sample that was nearly three times the legal limit and failed to provide the required second breath sample.

The man is set to attend court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving and refusing to provide breath samples. His licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
