Maskwacis RCMP - Shooting in the Samson Townsite lands one male in the hospital and police seeking the public's assistance

On Monday, April 25, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP were dispatched to an area in Townsite on the Samson Cree Nation for a male who had been shot. It was learned the suspect fled the area prior to police arriving. The victim was treated on scene, and taken to local area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. No other persons were injured.

Members of the Maskwacis General Investigation Section (GIS) took carriage of the investigation and are requesting the public's assistance for information related to the shooting. Maskwacis GIS are asking residents, particularly that were in the Samson Townsite on Monday, April 25, 2022 between 1 p.m., and 2 p.m., to report any suspicious persons or activity they may have seen. Police are also requesting anyone who lives in the area to check any video doorbell cameras or surveillance cameras.

"We believe there are people out there who have information about this shooting," says Cst. Andrew Deme of the Maskwacis RCMP. "Our Detachment members are working to strengthen that relationship and trust with our community residents, and making it a safe place to live. We can do this by working together, either by speaking with an officer, calling the detachment, or reporting it anonymously to Crime Stoppers."
