Around 6:30 a.m. June 21, 2022, the missing teen at Barney's Beach near Buffalo Pound Provincial Park was located deceased by a member of the public in the water near the shoreline in the area where he was last seen.

His family has been notified and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

RCMP wishes to thank members of the public who respected the directions and instruction of first responders over the last few days during the ongoing search.

Moose Jaw RCMP: Ongoing search for unaccounted for swimmer at Barney's Beach near Buffalo Pound Provincial Park

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, Moose Jaw RCMP received a report of an unaccounted for swimmer at Barney's Beach near Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, SK. Initial investigation indicates five teenagers were walking and swimming in the water when the wind and waves swept one of them out into the water. The teen was not immediately located.

Moose Jaw RCMP, Moose Jaw Search and Rescue, STARS Air Ambulance and conservation officers with the Provincial Protective Services Branch all attended the scene.

The search continues for the missing teen.

Police and searchers will be in the area today. The public is asked to avoid Barney's Beach and to respect all direction given by first responders in the area.
