Peace Regional RCMP lay charges following drug trafficking investigation

In March of 2022, the Peace Regional General Investigation Section began a drug trafficking investigation in the town of Peace River.

On May 5, 2022, a search warrant was executed on a vehicle, residence, and a business with assistance from the Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit. As a result of the search, the following was seized by the RCMP:

  • 5.2 ounces of cocaine packaged for trafficking
  • a loaded handgun
  • a significant amount of Canadian currency
  • 95,000 contraband cigarettes

A 27-year-old individual of St. Isodore, Alta. has been charged with the following:

  • possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

A 30-year-old individual of Peace River has been charged with the following:

  • possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • unsafe storage of a firearm
  • tampering with the serial number of a firearm

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, the 27-year-old individual was released is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court June 6, 2022. The 30-year-old individual was remanded into custody.

As this matter is now before the courts, no updates are anticipated.
