Portage la Prairie RCMP execute search warrant and seize drugs, weapons and cash

Items seized

On March 18, 2022, Portage la Prairie RCMP along with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST), executed a search warrant at a residence on 1st Street NW in Portage la Prairie.

Officers seized a handgun, three rifles, one of which was sawed off to a prohibited length, two sawed off shotguns, a crossbow, ammunition, 120 grams of methamphetamine, 93 grams of cocaine, prescription pills and cash.

Sheldon Bazin, 27, of Portage la Prairie has been arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3, Possession of a Restricted Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Proceeds of Crime, Fail to Comply and Weapons Possession Contrary to Order x3. Additional charges are pending. He was remanded into custody.

Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to investigate.
