Stolen vehicle

On September 16, 2022, at 7:10 am, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report from a member of the public who was following a suspected stolen vehicle on Road 36 West, in the RM of Portage la Prairie. He lost sight of the vehicle but officers responded to the area and began patrolling.

One of the officers located the vehicle and it was confirmed to be stolen. A traffic stop was initiated, but the driver refused to stop and tried to ram the police vehicle. The suspect vehicle got stuck on Road 30 West, and the driver ran from the vehicle. He stole another vehicle and fled the area.

The stolen vehicle was located in the area of Highway 2 and Highway 13, but continued to flee from police. The driver became stuck in the ditch and at that time police vehicles surrounded the stolen vehicle. The driver managed to get the vehicle free and struck one of the police vehicles. He was subsequently arrested.

One of the officers was injured during the incident and was treated and released at the hospital.

Curtis Livingstone, 29, from the RM of Portage la Prairie, has been charged with:

Assault on Police Officer with a Weapon x2
Flight from Police Officer
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Theft
Obstruction
Mischief x2

He was remanded into custody.
