Powerview RCMP investigate house fire

On July 23, 2022, Powerview RCMP responded to a structure fire at a home on Black River First Nation.


Officers attended and confirmed that everyone had made it out of the home safely. The residence had burned to the ground.

The investigation determined that the fire was the result of arson, and a suspect was identified.

Jordan Bird, 34, of Black River First Nation, was arrested and charged with Arson and Assault. He was released by the courts on a release order.

Powerview RCMP continue to investigate.
