RCMP seize drugs and prohibited firearm; two people arrested

The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested two people and seized various drugs, a prohibited firearm, weapons, ammunition, and money at a residence in Perth-Andover, N.B.

On April 29, 2022, at approximately 8:50 a.m., members of the Provincial Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on West Riverside Drive as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. During the search, police seized quantities of what is believed to be crack cocaine, fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine and oxycodone pills. Police also seized a prohibited firearm, a loaded handgun magazine, bear spray, a baseball bat, and money. Peace officers with the Department of Justice and Public Safety assisted with the search.

A 31-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, both from Perth-Andover were arrested at the scene without incident.

Janet Holmes appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court by way of tele-remand on April 29. She was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and was remanded into custody. She returned to court on May 2 and was charged with the following additional offences:

  • possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking oxycodone
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
  • unsafe storage of a firearm

Holmes' remand was extended and she will return to court on May 4, at 2:30 p.m., for a bail hearing.

Justin Curran appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court by way of tele-remand on April 29. He was charged with failure to comply with the conditions of an undertaking and was remanded into custody. He returned to court on May 3 for a bail hearing, and was charged with the following additional offences:

  • possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking oxycodone
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • unsafe storage of a firearm

Curran was released on conditions, and is scheduled to return to court on May 17.

The investigation was conducted by the Provincial Crime Reduction Unit, which includes police officers from the New Brunswick RCMP and Fredericton Police Force. Members of the New Brunswick Criminal Intelligence Services assisted. These efforts focus on disrupting and dismantling the trafficking of illegal drugs in our province, targeting those causing the most harm in our communities.
