On Dec. 29, 2021, Red Deer RCMP responded to a homicide at an apartment on 55 Street in Red Deer. Upon arrival, police located a deceased 66-year-old Red Deer resident. A 27-year-old male of Red Deer was immediately taken into police custody and brought back to the Red Deer detachment. The 27-year-old male and the deceased were known to each other.
As a result of further investigation into the incident by the RCMP Major Crimes Unit, the 27-year-old male has been charged with the following:
- Second-degree murder
He has been remanded in custody with his next court appearance scheduled for Jan. 4, 2022, in Red Deer Provincial Court, via CCTV.
