Investigative Recap
- June 8: at approximately 6:50 p.m., Melfort RCMP received a report of a theft from a store in Birch Hills. Investigation determined a female entered a store and stole two bottles of liquor. She is described as having dark hair and wearing a black hoodie and green pants. A photo of her is attached. She got into a black Pontiac Grand Am with Saskatchewan license plate 398 MRI. Anyone with information should contact Melfort RCMP at 306-752-6420.
- July 24: On July 24, 2022 at approximately 4 a.m., Pinehouse RCMP received a report of a theft at a rural business. Investigation determined a quantity of specialized, high-quality tools were stolen. At approximately noon that day, members of the Saskatchewan RCMP Crime Reduction Team observed a vehicle with a stolen license plate on Highway #2, near La Ronge. They activated their emergency equipment but the vehicle did not stop. After officers used a spike belt, the vehicle stopped and the occupants were arrested. Inside the vehicle, officers located and seized the tools reported stolen in Pinehouse earlier in the day, as well as a small amount of methamphetamine, a machete and a Halloween mask.
As a result, Donovan Misponas, 37, of Turnor Lake is charged with: 2 counts, break, enter and theft, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code; 2 counts, possession of property obtained by crime, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code; 1 count, fail to comply with release order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code; 1 count, possess weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code; and 1 count, identity fraud, Section 403, Criminal Code. He will appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on August 11, 2022. Hilarie Misponas, 33, of Pinehouse, is charged with 1 count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code; 1 count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code; 1 count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code; 2 counts, possession of property obtained by crime, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code; and 1 count, possess weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code. She will appear in La Ronge Provincial Court in August 22, 2022.
- July 25: Cumberland House RCMP seeks public's assistance locating wanted male
- July 26: White Butte RCMP investigating fatal collision
- July 27: At approximately 2:15 a.m., Blaine Lake RCMP received a report of a single vehicle rollover on Highway #12, just south of Blaine Lake. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased at the scene. She has been identified as a 22-year-old from Blaine Lake and her family has been notified. Blaine Lake RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP Collision Reconstructionist.
- July 27: At approximately 7:30 a.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report that a vehicle stolen from within the City of Prince Albert was travelling southbound out of the city. Officers located the vehicle parked in a rural area west of Highway #11 and arrested the male occupant without incident. Officers located a firearm, two knives and brass knuckles within reach of the driver's seat. As a result of investigation, Glen Halkett, 26, of Little Red River First Nation is charged with: 1 count, possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal to $5000, 354(1)(a), Criminal Code; 1 count, possess firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code; 1 count, unauthorized possession of firearm, Section 91(2), Criminal Code; 1 count, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, Section 94, Criminal Code; 1 count, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, Section 96(1)(ai), Criminal Code; 2 counts, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code. He will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on August 2.
- July 27: Spiritwood RCMP investigating fatal pedestrian-vehicle collision

- July 28: Charges laid in Bell's Point suspicious death investigation
- July 30: at approximately 4 a.m., Pelican Narrows RCMP received a report of two missing boaters, who had been travelling from Jan Lake to Pelican Narrows. Pelican Narrows RCMP and local residents patrolled for the boaters. They were located by some local fishers at approximately 12 p.m. on July 30 and were returned to Pelican Narrows safely.
- July 31: At approximately 8:00 a.m. Nipawin RCMP responded to a reported hit and run in Candle Lake. Police received multiple calls about a vehicle hitting a pedestrian on Highway #265 in Candle Lake, SK. The lone vehicle involved reportedly fled the scene. The vehicle was located a short time later by first responders in Candle Lake, and the female driver was arrested by a retired RCMP officer before RCMP officers arrived on-scene. The victim of the hit and run was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Nipawin RCMP would like to thank the Candle Lake Fire Department, Candle Lake First Responders, Candle Lake Community Safety Officers, and members of the public for their assistance with this investigation. As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Libby Huffman of Prince Albert, SK is charged with one count of failure to stop after an accident, Section 320.16(1), Criminal Code and received a 30-day vehicle impound.Huffman is scheduled to appear in Nipawin Provincial Court on October 5th, 2022.
- August 1: Around 2:00 p.m., Lanigan RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision eight kilometers west of Lanigan on Highway #16. The driver of an SUV, an adult male from the Wilkie, Saskatchewan area, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult female passenger of the SUV and the lone adult male driver of a second SUV, were transported to hospital with unknown injuries. The collision scene fully blocked Highway #16 and traffic was rerouted for several hours while RCMP Collision Reconstruction completed their on-scene investigation. The investigation into the cause of the collision continues by Lanigan RCMP and RCMP Collision Reconstruction.
- Update –The following wanted individuals who were subjects of previous media releases have been located and arrested: Sydney Caisse (Pinehouse RCMP); Kyla Cheenanow (Meadow Lake RCMP); Mason Dante Morrison (Buffalo Narrows RCMP) and Vincent Roy (Beauval RCMP).
