On January 12, 2022, the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested a male teen in connection to the investigation into the homicide of Jennifer Hendry. At this time, investigators do not believe the accused and victim knew one another. We are not seeking other suspects with regards to this investigation.

The teen, who is from the La Ronge RCMP detachment area, is charged with:

  • 1 count, first degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code.
  • 1 count, robbery, Section 344(1)(b), Criminal Code

We cannot name the teen or provide further details including age as it could identify him, which is prohibited under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He has appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court and has been remanded into custody until his next appearance on January 27, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

"Information received from community members was pivotal to this investigation," says Insp. Joshua Graham of the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit. "This incident has left Jennifer's loved ones – and the Air Ronge area – grieving. We're grateful the community was willing to assist our investigators, who have been working tirelessly on this case and have now arrested and charged the person believed to be responsible."

Saskatchewan RCMP's La Ronge Detachment, Prince Albert General Investigation Section, Saskatoon General Investigation Section, Prince Albert Forensic Identification Section, Technological Crimes Unit and Police Dog Service assisted in this investigation.

The individual in the photo/video we released on January 10, 2022 to assist this investigation has been identified.
