Stonewall RCMP officer injured during arrest

News release

On March 8, 2022, at approximately 11:00 am, Stonewall RCMP responded to a disturbance at business on Road 236, in the RM of Rosser. It was reported that two intoxicated males were refusing to leave and one had assaulted the employee.

Officers attended and located one of the male suspects in the parking lot. While officers were placing the male under arrest, he resisted, became combative and assaulted the officers. More officers arrived on scene and the 32-year-old male was arrested and taken into custody.

Zachary Bighetty, 32, has been charged with;

Assaulting a Police Officer Causing Bodily Harm
Assaulting a Police Officer x2
Resisting Arrest x 3
Assault

He was remanded into custody.

A 36-year-old RCMP officer was taken to hospital with minor physical injuries. He was later released. The other officer received minor physical injuries and did not require medical attention.

Stonewall RCMP continue to investigate.
