Strathcona County RCMP arrests one male for robbery and possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

Strathcona County RCMP have arrested a male in relation to a robbery at a local gas station.

On March 4, 2022 at 11:24 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP received a 911 call of a robbery at the Brentwood Esso gas station in Sherwood Park, Alta. A male suspect entered the store and advised the clerk he had a gas bomb in a plastic bag. The male left with several cigarette cartons, an undisclosed amount of cash and a bottle of Dr. Pepper. The lone employee was not injured during the incident.

RCMP Police Dog Services tracked the suspect to a residence in Sherwood Park.

A search warrant was executed at the residence and police seized a number of items in relation to the robbery including, the cigarette cartons, clothing worn by suspect during the robbery and a Dr. Pepper.

The 54-year-old male of Sherwood Park, Alta. has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The 54-year old male was released with conditions following a Judicial Interim Remand hearing and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on April 6, 2022.
