Summerside man sentenced to 38 months in prison for drug trafficking

A 61-year-old man from Summerside, PEI, has been sentenced to more than three years in prison following a drug trafficking investigation in the community.

On October 15, 2020, members of the Prince District Joint Forces Operation (JFO) Unit conducted a targeted traffic stop in Summerside as part of a drug investigation. Police seized quantities of cocaine, hydromorphone, methylphenidate, as well as money and drug trafficking paraphernalia. A 61-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Albert Stanford Bridges was subsequently charged with possession of cocaine, hydromorphone and methylphenidate for the purpose of trafficking. He plead guilty on February 17, 2022. On May 17, he was sentenced to 38 months in prison minus time already served.

Albert Stanford Bridges was ordered to forfeit money seized during the investigation, and to submit a DNA sample. Following his release from prison, he will be prohibited from possessing a weapon for life.

The Prince District JFO Drug Unit is comprised of members of the Prince District RCMP, Summerside Police Services, and Kensington Police Services.
