Traffic stop by Stoney Nakoda RCMP leads to arrest and charges

On May 17, 2022, a Stoney Nakoda RCMP officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. The driver attempted to run from the officer and was subsequently arrested. The driver was determined to have numerous warrants for his arrest, and he had a substance believed to be methamphetamine in his possession.

A 32-year-old individual, of Mini' Thni, has been charged with several offences, including the following:

  • Resist arrest
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Fail to comply with conditions of a release order
  • Charges under the Traffic Safety Act.

After a Judicial Interim Release hearing, the 32-year-old individual was remanded into custody, and his next appearance was set for May 18, 2022, in Canmore Provincial Court. The 32-year-old individual was also provided Court dates for his warrants out of Calgary and Cochrane.
