Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit makes arrest in rural break and enter

On Feb. 25, 2022, McLennan RCMP received a report of break and enter to a cabin located in the Hamlet of Watino, Alta. With the assistance of the Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit, suspects were identified.

On March 11, 2022, members of the Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit located one of the suspects operating a stolen pickup in the Hines Creek, Alta. area and arrested the female driver. Items recovered in the stolen truck were linked to the cabin break and enter.

A 23-year-old female of Hines Creek, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Break and Enter
  • Fraudulent Concealment
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Illegal Possession of Identity Documents x5

After a judicial hearing, she was released from custody and is set to appear in Falher Provincial Court on April 7, 2022.

On March 12, 2022, RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Hines Creek and arrested a 34-year-old male of Hines Creek, Alta. He has been charged with break and enter. He was released from custody and is set to appear in Falher Provincial Court on April 7, 2022.

"The stolen truck that was recovered by police was linked to several occurrences in the Red Deer area in recent weeks and was stolen from Whitecourt, Alta. in January of 2022," said Sgt. Chris Power of the Rural Crime Reduction Unit. "This provides and example of the mobility of the criminals that prey upon rural Albertans and how one stolen vehicle can be used to commit crime in multiple jurisdictions over a period of several weeks."
