Woman charged with aggravated assault following stabbing in Happy Valley-Goose Bay

Thirty-eight-year-old Joyce Haye remains in custody and is being held for a court appearance today for charges of aggravated assault in relation to a stabbing that happened at a Happy Valley-Goose Bay residence yesterday afternoon. A man remains in critical but stable condition and has been transported to St. John's for further medical attention.

Police received the report at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday and attended the Lethbridge Street residence. The injured man was transport to hospital and Haye was arrested a short time later at a nearby residence.

She attends court today and is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as the investigation, led by Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP with assistance from RCMP Labrador District General Investigation Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continues.
