Woman remains under investigation for drug-impaired driving following traffic stop in Cox’s Cove

A 38-year-old woman remains under investigation for drug-impaired driving following a traffic stop conducted by Corner Brook RCMP on May 28, 2022.

Shortly before 11:00 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on the Main Road in Cox`s Cove. Unsealed cannabis was observed readily available to the driver, who showed signs of impairment. She was arrested after testing positive for cannabis on roadside drug screening equipment and was transported to Western Memorial Regional Hospital where a sample of her blood was collected. Officers await the results of the blood sample to determine if a charge of drug impaired driving is appropriate.

The woman was ticketed under the Cannabis Control Act for having unsealed cannabis readily available.

The investigation is ongoing.
