72-year-old man dies following single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian

A 72-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the community.

On February 8, 2023, at approximately 6 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on the corner of Mountain Road and Winter Avenue in Moncton. The pedestrian was transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious, life-threatening injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was uninjured.

On February 9, the pedestrian, a 72-year-old man, died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Moncton Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office is also assisting with the investigation, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the man's exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
