Gypsumville RCMP respond to fatal collision

On March 22, 2023, at approximately 1:00 am, Gypsumville RCMP received a report of a head-on collision on Highway 513 near Dauphin River First Nation. Officers were first on scene and immediately attended each of the two vehicles.

In the first vehicle, a male driver and a male front seat passenger were still in the vehicle. A female backseat passenger was able to exit. The male driver was assisted out of the vehicle, but the male passenger was pinned.

In the second vehicle, the female driver and male front seat passenger were pinned, and the backseat male passenger was able to exit the vehicle.

The 51-year-old male driver of the first vehicle, from Dauphin River First Nation, was pronounced deceased on scene.

All other occupants of the vehicles, adults from Dauphin River First Nation, were extracted and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

The investigation continues.
