On January 22, 2023, at approximately 5:20 pm, Island Lake RCMP responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Garden Hill First Nation.
RCMP were advised that the victim of the assault, a 56-year-old male from the community, was currently at the nursing station with serious injuries, and would be transported to Winnipeg.
RCMP identified two people involved in the assault.
A 39-year-old female is facing a charge of Assault. She was released with an upcoming court date.
Barahmeus Wood, 36, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Fail to Comply x2.
He was remanded into custody.
Island Lake RCMP continue to investigate.
