On March 26, 2023, RCMP arrested 37-year-old Dowayne Calvin Strang, from Pauingassi First Nation, in relation to this homicide.
On March 27, 2023, he was charged with Manslaughter and remanded into custody.

On March 24, 2023, at approximately 5:55 am, Little Grand Rapids RCMP responded to a report of a death at a residence on Pauingassi First Nation.
Officers attended and located a 36-year-old male from Pauingassi First Nation, deceased inside the residence. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
