Man and woman charged following drug trafficking investigation

A 38-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman from Moncton, N.B., have been charged following a drug investigation in the community.

In August 2022, the Codiac Regional RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in Moncton.

On October 11, police identified two people of interest in connection with the investigation. Later the same day, a 38-year-old man was arrested in the Dieppe area. Two search warrants were subsequently executed on a vehicle and at a hotel room. During the searches, police seized quantities of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, hydromorphone, benzimidazole pills, and money.

On January 9, 2023, the following charges were laid against Jamie Alexander and Amber Mutch in Moncton Provincial Court:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking hydromorphone

Jamie Alexander is scheduled to appear in court on January 18 at 9:30 a.m.
