Man arrested following violent home invasion in Stephenville Crossing

Following a violent home invasion that occurred in Stephenville Crossing early Monday morning, March 27, 2023, 40-year-old Donald Matthew King was arrested today by Bay St. George RCMP. He is charged with multiple criminal offences.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. on Monday, police received the report of a violent attack. King allegedly forced entry into a residence, assaulted a man inside and stole a quantity of cash, prescription medications and other items. The victim sustained serious injuries as a result of the attack.

After evading police, an arrest warrant was issued for King, who was located today at a home in Mattis Point. He was arrested without further incident and attends court this afternoon. King is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Robbery
  • Aggravated assault
  • Break, enter and commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breaching conditions of a release order
  • Breaching a probation order
